Not A Cult

Description: The goal for this project was to use a problem-solving, research-based approach to identify a topic and three graphic design deliverables. After lengthy research I decided on the topic of cults, and chose the deliverables that would best suit the needs of a cult trying to recruit members.

Concept: I embarked on a social experiment: Could I design a fictional cult so appealing that it highlights the vulnerabilities that lead people to join real ones? After lengthy research I found that people are highly susceptible to joining cults when they are emotionally vulnerable, have nonexistent family relations and support systems, or are experiencing high levels of stress and crisis. Under these circumstances generally women age 18-40 are the most influenced by cults “love bombing” tendencies.
